WordPress, Contact Forms and Fasthosts

So after a week of battling with Grunion Contact Form for WordPress, trying to find out why it would not send out emails I came across this post: http://nutbeen.com/fasthosts-and-wordpress-contactemail-forms/

I was already aware that Fasthosts insist that you use the additional -f header when sending mail outs from php scripts (which I had been doing for some time with my own scripts), and it would appear that WordPress were aware of the issue that this insistence from some hosts was causing… http://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/5007 and http://phpxref.ftwr.co.uk/wordpress/nav.html?wp-includes/pluggable.php.source.html#l379

However, I could not understand why the core mailing in WordPress (i.e. new comment notifications) was working but mailings from plugins would not…

Anyway, WP_MAIL_SMTP came to my rescue and now I have a working contact form in my WordPress blog… the final part to being able to move my entire site into WordPress…

Next; to migrate my WordPress install to the route of my domain and remove the old site!

  1. I love your blog.. very nice colors & theme. Did you
create this website yourself or did you hire someone
to do it for you? Plz answer back as I’m looking to design my own
blog and would like to find out where u got this from.
    thanks

    1. Hi Marietta,

I designed it myself, although I feel it is in need of a bit of a design overhaul when I can find the time; but thank you for the kind comments.

      Jon
